The Board of Education unanimously approved Carper’s appointment during its November 25, 2024, meeting, marking the start of an exhilarating new era for Cavaliers football.

Carper brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record, having spent four seasons as a head coach. He led the Vinton County Vikings from 2021-2023 and took the reins of the Zanesville Blue Devils in 2024. His dynamic coaching style, dedication to community, and passion for developing young athletes set him apart from a competitive pool of over 30 applicants.

“Coach Carper rose to the top of a very strong group of candidates,” said Knute Bonner, Chillicothe’s Athletic Director. “His high energy, community-driven approach, and vision for the future of Cavaliers football make him the perfect fit. We’re thrilled to see what he can achieve here in Chillicothe.”

For Coach Carper, the move to Chillicothe is more than just a professional milestone—it’s personal. “I’m extremely thankful for this opportunity,” he shared. “This is a great fit for my wife and our three kids, and I’m ready to pour my heart, energy, and effort into the program, the players, and the entire Chillicothe community.”

The countdown begins now for Coach Carper’s Cavaliers debut. The team will kick off the 2025 season on Friday, August 22, with an away game against Bloom Carroll.

The Cavaliers are ready to charge into a new chapter under Coach Carper’s leadership. Let’s go CAVS!
